Joe Gaspard's record-setting performance

Per-turn average of 62.7 points sets new record
At the May 24, 2005 Minneapolis club session, Joe Gaspard scored 627 points in ten plays against Steve Pellinen to set a new NSA record.  His 62.7 points-per-turn broke the single-game record that was held by another of our club players, Jim Kramer.  Kramer still holds the tournament record, which was set in a March 2000 Waltham, Massachusetts tournament.  [Read more]

Club 42 trio to play in WSC

Club 42 players Jim Kramer, Lisa Odom, and Tim Adamson have been selected to represent the United States at the 2005 World SCRABBLE® Championships (WSC).  The tournament will be held November 16-20 in London, England and is expected to include 104 players from 41 countries. [Read more]

Muriel is in the news (again!)

A new piece about Muriel Linton is on the Internet. There is a nice photo, and an article about one of her paintings at the Evangelical Covenant Church news magazine site.
Eighty-three-year old Muriel Linton apologizes on the telephone - "I'm sorry," she says, "but this cold gives me an old lady voice" - before launching into her story.  A resident of Bethany Covenant Village for the last 10 years, Linton is bursting to tell someone about her painting called He Leadeth Me. Club 42 in The Rake magazine, January 2005

Tim Bewer, who has occasionally played SCRABBLE® with us, wrote a piece on our club for the Twin Cities' monthly, The Rake:
