Twin Cities, MN - Madison, WI: Club Challenge 2007

Director's Report

In the second year of this Minnesota vs. Wisconsin club shootout, the
traveling trophy stays with Minnesota, with total wins of 155 vs. 109.
Wisconsin won the state prize for Division 1, and Minnesota for Division 2
(see details below).

Two Minnesota players and two Wisconsin players won $5 each for high M and W
plays on each day. The highest of these was WORMIEST, using both the M and
the W, for 157 points, played by Nola Hembrook.

Five dollar prizes were also awarded for the high game for each state:

Matt Rust 530, Carol Dustin 532.

Mary Huizel ran a trivia contest, and awarded magnets depicting the opposing
state to each of 6 winners.

Linda Finn donated to the winning state (Minnesota) a nice block of
Wisconsin cranberry cheddar cheese, which I will bring along to Club 42 on
Tuesday night.

Minnesota won the state prize ($50) ... winning 90 games to Wisconsin's 42.

Thanks to everyone involved in making this event happen, especially Steve
Pellinen who handled the wall charts, pairings and standings; Sue Hoehn who
will be tabulating and reporting the results and generally helped out as
usual, Harriet Strasberg and Sue Rhea who volunteered to help Sue Hoehn and
I check for error on the score cards; Mary Huizel who helped me in the
planning stages; and Barbara Besadny and Mary Becker who made sure we had
Wisonsinites to play against. I was impressed all weekend at the many offers
we had from players towho were wiling to help in any way needed. The weather
was great, and I believe that a grand time was had by most! We plan to do it
again next year.
