Roughly halfway between the two clubs' respective meeting locations, Club 42
(Twin Cities) and Club 247 (Madison) met in Black River Falls WI for their
first ever interclub contest. Club directors Carol Dustin and Mary Becker
did most of the organizing, with help from Sue Hoehn and Richard Lauder and
others. I was supposed to be one of the players, but somehow ended up doing
data entry and directing. I filled in for a late-arriving Rob Robinsky in
Round 1 and was the only undefeated player in the tournament, although John
O'Laughlin was matching that until his last round loss to Vincent Van Dover.
All in all, a fun time and apparently a resounding success as evidenced by
the 44 out of 49 players who stuck around for the awards ceremony. We will
do it again next year.
