Four Divisions – 12 Games (Must pre-register by October 8 – no entries will be accepted the day of tourney)

Division 1 – players rated 1600 and above ($75)

Division 2 – players rated 1300 – 1599 ($50)

Division 3 – players rated  950 – 1299 ($50)

Division 4 – players rated under 949 and unrated* ($50)

                   (*see note below for unrated exceptions)

 

Saturday Oct 11    9:00 am to 6:00 pm (7 games, with lunch break)

Sunday Oct 12      9:00 am to 2:30 pm (5 games, no lunch break)

3:00 pm  Awards

 

A variety of pairing methods will be used, depending on the number of players in a division.

You will need to verify your NSA membership by membership card or newsletter.  Please renew your NSA membership before the tournament.  If this is your first tournament, you do not need to join the NSA but must do so before your next tournament.  All others must be current members.

·         The most recent published NSA Rating will determine your division (or higher Peak - see below).  Unrated players will usually play in the lowest rating division.  Exceptions can be made for players with club or on line experience.

·         You may play up one division if your rating is within 100 points of the cutoff at any time after June 30, 2008.

·         Current NSA Tournament Rules will govern play. Clocks/timers are required – bring your own if you have one.

·         All players who have rotating boards, clocks and smooth tiles should bring them.

·         Cash prizes will be awarded in all divisions.  Amounts depend on number of players (historically over 80% returned).

·         Word sources are The Official Tournament and Club Word List and The Long List per NSA rules.

•     No smoking in the playing room or in the hallway outside the play area.
